Parents
What can you do to help?
o
Volunteer to take on the creation of the
Opening Day Banner.
o
Volunteer to keep the book during games.
o
Inform the Manager of any dates that you may not be
available.
o
Send updated roster information (i.e. new
e-mail addresses, cell numbers etc…)
o
Commitment that issues and or suggestions
regarding the team are brought directly to coaches
attention.
o
Support of the decisions that the League and
Coaching Staff make during the Season.
o
Attend your child’s games & cheer for every
kid on the team – positive feedback & interest shown by
parents will boost their confidence
o
That your children are at games and practices
on time.
o
Players must be in complete uniform with
shirts tucked in.
o
Volunteer where & when you can – ask your
player agent for guidance.
o
The more you are involved, the better the
experience will be for your family, the team & everyone
involved.
Thing you should avoid doing…
o
No parents or siblings in the dugouts.
o
Please don’t shout advice to your
child/teammate during the game.
§
Shout encouragement - yes.
§
A steady stream of technique suggestions – has
no value.
§
Your insightful tips may conflict with the
coaches instruction, leading to your child becoming
confused.
§
Let the coach run his team with his plan &
support it.
§
Most kids learn to tune out their parents –
even when Dad is screaming from behind the backstop.
§
He is concentrating on the pitcher, as he
should.
§
This causes a distraction to other players &
coaches.
§
Why hinder your child’s performance by
distracting him – give him a chance to play & achieve
success or fail.
§
You can learn more from your mistakes – talk
with your child after the game .
§
If a play worked because Dad yelled “throw to
1st”, how is your child going to learn the fundamental’s of
the game.
o
Root for your team & not against the other
team – we are all EMLL.
§
Other team’s players should be considered off
limits.
§
If an opposing player is acting
inappropriately, bring it to the attention of your manager.
§
It’s poor sportsmanship to engage with an
opposing player at any level. |
